I got a Weight Loss Question from FB Fren
Suzanah Said asks
"Hey beautiful....I got this problem..of trying to loose weight since last 3 three years, After given birth to my 4th baby last year, I tried to skip rice, it lasted for only 1 month. I can't bare to go wif out rice. Eventually, right now I am on brown rice. It tastes yulky but, it is better than go wif out. Getting used to it now, but the question is...can we eat this brown rice as much as we eat white rice? I mean...the nutritional fact is Brown rice is healthier right? And it can be eaten with the normal lauk that we malays always cook such as ayam lemak cili padi lah..curry ayam lah and all that, right?"
My Answers:
- You can eat rice and still lose weight
- Rice is a carbohyrate that provides energy for the body
- No you won't put on weight by eating rice, you put on weight by too much of food than your body
needs
- Your body slows down its Fat Burning IF you dont eat enough nutrients - Not coz of the rice
- YES Brown Rice is much better than White Rice.. Why?
- Brown Rice has more fibre - Keeps you full longer
- Brown rice has more nutrients coz of being less processed. White Rice is processed so much nutrients
lost during processing
- Brown Rice has more Vitamin B and Vitamin B is important if you want to burn off food you eat
- Brown Rice has good fats, so you will not crave for fried stuff
- Yes you can eat Brown Rice with the Malay lauk2
- I agree the taste is different, but you'll get used to it
- Research has shown women who eats more whole grain foods like brown rice are slimmer
My own Personal Conclusion
- I have a mantra "Brown Rice or No Rice", I do eat White Rice, but very seldom coz I prefer to eat wholemeal bread than rice and for bread I choose wholemeal bread
- I eat my wholemeal bread with lauk-lauk
At the end of the day its also not just what you eat, but how much you eat that is also important : )
